Narrow the Gap Photo contest 2014: Information day
Last Tuesday, 27th May, there was a buzz of excitement at the LIN Center as 7 enthusiastic photographers from the Narrow the Gap Photo contest 2014, had an opportunity to meet the NPOs with whom they will be working. The theme of this year's contest is "The Untold Stories", referring to the diligent efforts of NPO's quietly working in the community. The photographers' task is to use their photography skills and interests in community development to document the important work being carried out by NPOs in the field of education.
This year's finalists were selected by Mr Na Son, a renowned documentary photographer. Coming from different backgrounds and life experiences, each of the photographers brings his or her own unique approach to photographic story telling: Luan – winner of last year's Big Prize with the album "The Fragments of Rainbows at Te Phan"; Nam Anh – a student from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ms Luu – a freelance designer; Bao Ngoc – a university student; Tuong Uyen – a bank officer; and Dang Khoa – a sales officer.
At the Information day event the photographers and NPO representatives had a chance to meet and talk about their experiences and involvement in education work. After much discussion, laughter and getting to know each other, everyone left the LIN Center feeling excited and looking forward to working together. In a little more than two weeks' time, they will continue where they left off and begin the process of story-telling through photographs. The photo stories will be posted on the Narrow the Gap Facebook page in late June.
