We cannot win the battle of poverty and injustice alone. We must work together. We must continually improve. We must ensure impact.
To usher into 2019 and LIN Center for Community Development’s 10 year anniversary, I’m delighted to introduce our new tagline:
Connecting All Sectors for a Resilient Vietnam
Ket Noi Cong Dong Cho Mot Viet Nam Khoi Sac.
My name is Betsye Moon Park, Executive Advisor of LIN Center for Community Development and am thrilled to be leading LIN during this exciting time in the organization’s growth. LIN is a Vietnamese non profit organization with the mission of helping local NPOs, skilled volunteers, and donors to fulfill their potential as vehicles for sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and citizen participation in Vietnam. I have had a long experience with the organization previously sitting as a Board Member and chairing the Finance Committee. My professional experience spans both the non-profit and private sectors, and nothing thrills me more than collaboration between sectors for the good of the community.
Since taking on the Executive role at LIN, my primary focus has been strengthening the internal operations of LIN, and ensuring systems are strong in order for LIN’s programs to run efficiently. Additionally, we have been steadily extending LIN’s network of non-profit organizations and private sector corporations to build an ecosystem of organizations collaborating on projects and programs with the ultimate aim to reduce poverty in Vietnam.
An integral part of the continual ‘health’ of the organisation is the ‘unseen’ and ‘behind-the-scenes’ updates to ensure the continuity, sustainability and strength of the organisation. Over the past six months, we have solidified LIN’s financial and HR systems to better control our day-to-day operations and overall governance, thus placing focus on achieving LIN’s strategic and long-term vision. This requires many meetings, conversations, reviews, and ultimately consensus among the team and Board on what will work best for the running of LIN, and I’m proud that we were able to reach the implementation stage of these systems. This process will be essential to the growth of LIN throughout 2019 and 2020.
As we head into LIN’s 10th year, we see also understand the vital importance of the ‘seen’ part of the organisation and updating LIN’s tagline – Connecting All Sectors for a Resilient Vietnam/ Ket Noi Cong Dong Cho Mot Viet Nam Khoi Sac to better communicate LIN’s priority of bringing all sectors together. As a community, we want to ensure all people have equal access to opportunities and continue to work towards improving the quality of life for all people in Vietnam.
I look forward to meeting new and old friends and partners of LIN in realizing this crucial next step and continuing to bring the updated tagline to life.
From all of us at LIN, we wish you a peaceful, happy and fruitful 2019 filled with exciting partnerships!
